The Tennessee Titans are reportedly hiring Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as their next head coach.
The news comes from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and it comes on the same day the Titans hosted Callahan for a second interview, which was the first sign he was a favorite for the job.
Callahan wasn’t initially my favorite out of Tennessee’s candidates, but the more I’ve learned about him, the more I’ve been a fan of the Titans hiring him.
Callahan took the job as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator in 2019 and aided in the franchise’s turnaround that was largely a result of the offense led by Bengals star quarterback, Joe Burrow.
Callahan didn’t call the plays in Cincinnati, but he did have a big hand in the game-planning for the offense, as well as input on a play-by-play basis during games.
And Burrow wasn’t the only young signal-caller to find success in the offense, as rookie Jake Browning was surprisingly good in 2023.
That’s important to note because Callahan will be working with a promising young quarterback in Will Levis.

Now, the attention will turn to who Callahan hires to his staff, and more specifically the offensive and defensive coordinator roles. It’ll also be interesting to see if he keeps anyone from Tennessee’s current staff.
One other thing to keep an eye on is if Callahan can bring his dad, Bill, with him to Nashville. The elder Callahan is one of the best offensive line coaches in the business and would be a huge asset to rebuilding the offensive line.
