The Tennessee Titans lost two of their key free agents on Monday after right guard Nate Davis agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears and David Long agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins.
Davis’ reported deal with the Bears will pay him $30 million over three years, while Long’s reported pact earns him $11 million over two years.
Neither of those deals are outrageous, but that didn’t stop Tennessee from letting both walk. That’s likely because both have had issues staying on the field for a Titans team that has been plagued by injury the past two years.
That said, the departures of Long and Davis leave Tennessee with big holes at linebacker and right guard, respectively. The Titans now have as many as four starters to replace along the offensive line, and two starters at inside linebacker.
Despite the injury concerns with Davis and Long, Titans fans were not happy about losing either, especially after seeing what they signed for. Along with fan reaction, members of the Titans media also weighed-in.
If you're surprised David Long is no longer w/the #Titan because of the money spent by another team keep this in mind:
That was the height of his market. If his agent thought that another team would pay more money, they wouldn't have signed. The NFL thinks just as low about… https://t.co/TFxCbzYQvD

He really not worth $11M to the Titans?

Literally don’t understand this??? That cheap and we couldn’t even do it… if Wagner isn’t replacing him then idkkkkk

Why couldn't we re-sign him 😡😡
— ⚔️ Titan E ⚔️ (@TitanBossE9) March 13, 2023
They signed him for a very relatively affordable contract also. Don't understand this one at all. He was just entering his prime. Set career high for pass blocking last year and had been top 15 in run blocking in each of 2 years prior. Make this make sense! @CoachVrabel50 🤬🤬🤬

The #Titans lose David Long Jr. to the dolphins a pretty inexplicable amount of money. I personally would’ve paid Long this amount in a heartbeat. He’s a top-5 player at his position when healthy. The only explanation for letting him walk is being scared of his lack of durability https://t.co/IuZPZinVRc

Ouch that’s all it took to sign David Long???
Draft, Replace, Repeat at #Titans LB continues. Monty Rice, you’re up https://t.co/sTCmybSM9l

Either the #Titans really didn't like David Long or David Long really didn't like the Titans
— Jimmy Morris (@jmorrisMCM) March 13, 2023
“The Titans couldn’t have matched this number?”
Maybe David Long and Nate Davis didn’t want to stay here? Y’all realize some people are looking to meet more personal needs than the dollar signs on the deal, right?

#Titans Front Office doing a horrible job so far

Can’t wait to watch Taylor Lewan, Ben Jones, Nate Davis, & David Long Jr. all play somewhere else and be much more healthy.
Meanwhile Titans kept the Strength & Conditioning staff from back 2 back years of being the most injured team.

I'm so confused! If Dillard plays LT, cool, we have another guy who gets beaten consistently and might go down with injury. That was fun the past few years, let's run that back.
If he plays guard, we could've just kept Nate Davis for the same money. WHAT in the WORLD
