Former Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson hit a home run in the 2019 NFL draft, as he landed the team five impact players with his six picks.
One of those players was defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, who has become one of the best players at his position in the NFL since he was taken with the No. 19 overall pick.
As a result, Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema named Simmons the best No. 19 overall pick since 2015. Here’s what he wrote:
Simmons doesn’t face much competition here, but that’s no slight to the Titans’ top defensive lineman. He recorded single-season PFF grades above 80.0 in 2020 and 2022, and his pass-rush win rate has been above 10% in each of his five NFL seasons.
Simmons has been everything the Titans could’ve hoped for, and more. Not only is he an elite player, Big Jeff has also stepped into a leadership role, which is especially important as the Titans transition to a new era.
