Titans’ draft history with the No. 169 overall pick

The Tennessee Titans hold a total of seven picks in the 2022 NFL draft, one of which comes in the fifth round at No. 169 overall. It’s a spot the Titans have drafted from just once in franchise history.

Before we get to who that pick was and how they fared, here’s a full rundown of Tennessee’s selections in 2022, along with a link to our articles looking back at the history of their first four picks in this year’s draft.

Round 1, Pick 26 (draft history)

Round 3, Pick 90 (draft history)

Round 4, Pick 131 (draft history)

Round 4, Pick 143 (draft history)

Round 5, Pick 169

Round 6, Pick 204

Round 6, Pick 219

In 2006, the Titans selected defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona out of the University of Tennessee, where he had seven sacks and 77 tackles in his collegiate career.

Mahelona spent just one season with the Titans, appearing in 10 games (one start) during that campaign. He finished with 20 combined tackles and one sack, but was inactive for the final six games. The Hawaii native was released in September 2007.

He had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons that year, playing in one game with the Falcons that proved to be his last in the NFL. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008, but failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp.

On the morning of September 5, 2009, Mahelona tragically died in a car accident at the age of 26.
