Falcons head coach Arthur Smith is set to face his former team when Atlanta travels to Tennessee in Week 8. Smith spent years working his way up the Titans organization before getting a shot as offensive coordinator in 2019.
After two productive years of calling plays for Tennessee and essentially reviving quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s career, the Falcons hired Smith as head coach in 2021.
Tannehill’s status for Sunday’s game is still up in the air as he battles an ankle injury. If Tannehill can’t play, the Titans will likely play two different quarterbacks in Week 8.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Malik Willis and Will Levis could both get reps against the Falcons.
Titans’ HC Mike Vrabel told reporters that he expects both QBs, Malik Willis and Will Levis, to play against the Falcons if Ryan Tannehill doesn’t. Tannehill is not practicing today due to an ankle injury.

Levis was a second-round pick that was projected to go in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. Similarly, Willis was a third-round pick in 2022 that was projected to go much higher.
The Titans are currently in last place in the AFC South with a 2-4 record. The Falcons sit atop the NFC South with a 4-3 record following Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers.
