Titans can turn around worst ever season start: Foran

Gold Coast captain Kieran Foran says the Titans have the formula to beat the Warriors in Auckland on Anzac Day, despite setting an unwelcome club record last week.

The Titans have started the season with six consecutive losses for the first time in their 17-year history, following the 34-30 loss to Manly last week.

They became just the 10th team in the NRL era to do so. Five of the past six outfits to start as poorly ended up with the wooden spoon.

The Titans have been a much-improved side in the past fortnight. They suffered a 21-20 golden-point loss to Canberra, and led by eight points with seconds to go in the first half against the Sea Eagles before lapses of concentration either side of the break threw away their advantage.

The Warriors, in 10th position, turned in their worst display of the year last week in the 30-12 loss to St George Illawarra.

Foran, up against the club he played with in 2017, said last week's loss was heartbreaking.

"I feel we have been unfortunate not to walk away with a win," he said.

"In saying that, we have came up with costly plays and errors. We have got to eliminate that and take that out of our game. If we do that then I feel like we are building well enough to get the win.

"We played reasonably good footy (against the Sea Eagles) but are yet to register our first win for the season. That is our main goal against the Warriors. We need to start winning and getting the two points."

Foran and the Titans will venture into a hostile, sold-out Mt Smart Stadium to do battle with the smarting Warriors.

"The way rugby league is going in the country at the moment is enormous and they seem to be getting sellouts every single week, so it makes it an incredibly challenging task," Foran said.

"We know what we are up against."

Foran, named at No.7, will bring outstanding form into the match after being involved in four of the Titans' tries last week. He was the best player on the field in a beaten team.
