Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has been labeled as one of the more cerebral coaches in the NFL since being hired back in 2018.
He isn’t perfect, and he definitely has his in-game flaws, but more often than not, he makes the right decisions when the opportunity presents itself. More specifically, when it comes to making aggressive decisions, especially on fourth downs.
According to NFL analyst Ben Baldwin, the Titans are the third-best team at making the correct decision when deciding whether or not to go for it on fourth down.
How often teams make the correct decision on 4th down (according to my bot).
More than half the league is getting it right more than half the time- dramatic improvement from a few years ago!
Meanwhile, the Bengals are horrible at this pic.twitter.com/afLqFjbSXE

By this metric, the Titans make the correct decision approximately 75 percent of the time. Only the Eagles and Cardinals have a higher success rate this year.
I’m sure we can all think of a few examples of when we wanted the Titans to go for it and they didn’t, but this is just further proof that Vrabel has a good idea of when to be aggressive, and when not to.
