Tipping Point player accused of 'trolling' Everton FC fans

Tipping Point fans were taken aback at one contestant's answer to a football question during Wednesday's programme.

This week's first instalment of the popular ITV game show saw host Ben Shephard welcome the latest players to the studio. They were Del, Georgia, Mitch and Yvonne.

The aim of the game is to answer general knowledge questions correctly to win coins which you can then use on the Tipping Point machine. Contestants then drop the coins into the machine to knock counters off the shelf and potentially win thousands of pounds at the end of the game.

Del was first to leave the show, bowing out after the first round. With Mitch and Georgia storming ahead, Yvonne had some catching up to do. But when Ben asked her a question about football kits, she faltered.

Mr Shephard asked: "Everton football club's home shirts are predominantly which primary colour?", and Yvonne said: "Red".

Many fans at home noticed Yvonne gave the colour of their rivals, Liverpool FC. Taking to Twitter, Chris Shand said: "So Everton play in Red ffs knew she’d say that", while Holly said: "Everton play in red now?"

Jessica aid: "Yvonne is trolling the toffees there", and Dan S said: "Everton fans will not be happy with that answer".

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
