Tipping Point contestant's Edinburgh answer leaves Scottish viewers speechless

A Tipping Point contestant has left viewers across the country in complete disbelief for all the wrong reasons.

Contestant Lorraine made a daft blunder during the quiz show on Tuesday, January 17 - but wait until you hear the question.

Host Ben Shephard had asked contestants in which Scottish city you would find the famous Sauchiehall Street?"

Many of us will have sunk back in our chairs, happy that Lorraine had this answer in the bag. However, Lorraine quickly replied, "Edinburgh."

This was, of course, the incorrect answer as Ben Shepard told the contestant the correct city was Glasgow.

Sauchiehall Street is one of the main shopping streets in the city centre of Glasgow and is over 1.5 miles in length - and is definitely not in the capital.

Scottish viewers in both cities and across the country have been left surprised by what we consider an easy question. Despite the slip-up, Lorraine made it through to the next round of the quiz show with fellow contestant Jim.

Lorraine had just become a grandmother for the second time and doted on her four-and-a-half-year-old and four weeks old grandchildren during the show.

The grandmother made it further through the show after the daft blunder but was put out before the final round with £1300 in the bank which she, unfortunately, didn't go home with.

Fellow contestant Jim later added another 12 counters, leaving him relatively uncatchable for runner-up Lorraine. Jim then took his spot in the final and went home with £3100.

It wasn't just this question that amused viewers during the weekly quiz show, Ben Shepard sparked concern from worried viewers with his 'tired' appearance on the latest episode of the show as fans noticed his tired demeanour.

Within minutes of the show starting, fans took to social media to share their thoughts, with some saying Ben’s puffy eyes and pale skin were concerning.

Some were even wondering if Ben was wearing make-up as he looked a little worse for wear.

“When Ben's got his puffy eyes the cameras stay off him a lot and only on him when he's looking down.

"Otherwise he tips his head back and looks downwards to try and disguise them," one fan said as they fretted Ben could have caught a cold.

Another added: “Ben looking a tad shattered.”

A third quipped: “Guess Ben is suffering being a West Ham fan like me, not a good time.” While a fourth added: “#TippingPoint Ben does sound rough.”

Another even suspected the star of wearing make-up to hide his tired appearance. “A bit heavy on the eyeliner and blusher today Ben?!!”

Despite Ben seeming a little tired, the show delivered lots of nail-biting moments as fans welcomed players Jim, Lorraine and Hannah.

The three contestants were all vying to win £10k in the coin machine as they took their chance against a series of trivia questions.

The new series of the Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4.00 pm on STV, followed by The Chase.
