Tipping Point contestant makes 'history' by breaking show record

A Tipping Point contestant made "history" on the ITV game show this week as she broke a record by banking the highest amount in her prize pot in the first round. Host Ben Shephard revealed the news to player Torah, who was competing alongside Lynda and Sati, and left her speechless.

Contestant Lynda was quick off the mark during the episode. In round one she answered a question correctly on the film franchise Star Wars. But being the first player on the machine, she didn't manage to collect any money and it was Hull carer, Torah, who had luck on her side.

Torah made the biggest impact during the show when she answered a question correctly about Billy Rae Cyrus' hit Achy Breaky Heart and asked for her counter to be used in drop zone four. She was then rewarded with a whopping total of 17 counters and banked £850. She unfortunately lost her second counter after answering a question incorrectly but when using her final counter of the round, Torah bagged another £100.

Her winning streak continued as she was the first to buzz in and answer correctly to win the two penalty counters at the end of round one. She used her first in drop zone two and got five counters from the machine, but it was her second drop that saw her break a Tipping Point record.

The game show's presenter Ben said: "Torah! Wow! Six more for you, another £300". Her prize pot had then increased to a whopping £1,500. The host then made a surprising revelation: "You have managed to create a little bit of Tipping Point history, because that is a record in this round without a double, Torah. £1,500 is a huge total, congratulations! Breaking Tipping Point records".

Torah seemed to be left speechless and just replied saying: "Wow!". Her fellow competitors congratulated her record and Torah added: "It wasn't just me, it was the machine as well." She made it through to the final round but after failing to get the £10,000 jackpot counter out of the machine, decided to walk away with her impressive £3,550 total and the mystery prizes, a Bluetooth speaker and a hotel stay, she had collected too.

Tipping Point continues weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 4pm.
