Tina Knowles thinks the teenage years are the "most difficult" for parents.
The 70-year-old businesswoman is mother to pop superstar Beyoncé, 43, and 'Losing You' singer Solange, 38, and "truly believes" that the child's destiny is a result of how the parent chooses to bring them up, even if they have to navigate their tricky years through adolescence.
She told People: "I feel like the teenage years are the most difficult, but it will get better and you get what you put in. That's what I truly believe. The more you put into your kids, the more love and care and support you give them, the more you get out of it."
Tina was honoured at the Glamour's Women of the Year Awards alongside other mothers who have nurtured their children's careers and gave a speech where she noted she has been "so blessed" generally in life but being a parent has been the "best job" she has ever had.
She said: "I've been so blessed in my life to do many things. I've had many careers, but I've always said that the best job that I've ever had is being a mother.
"I've had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters... two that were born to me and two that were a gift to me from God. You know, I was somewhat of a rebellious teen and a young adult, and I didn't always follow the rules, but the day that I became a mother, I decided that this was one thing that I wouldn't screw up."
The 'Single Ladies' hitmaker was present int he audience to see her mom receive the honour, along with Selena Gomez' mother Mandy Teefey, Billie Eilish's mom Maggie Baird and Donna Kelce, who is mother to NFL player Travis Kelce.
