John Travolta recently took to Instagram to congratulate Timothée Chalamet on his impressive box office success. Travolta, at 70 years old, extended his congratulations to Chalamet, 28, for achieving a significant milestone in the film industry. The veteran actor acknowledged Chalamet for joining him in sharing the record of having two top-grossing films in eight months, a feat that Travolta had held on his own for over four decades.
Chalamet's recent films, Wonka and Dune: Part Two, have both made a mark at the box office. According to reports, each of these movies has garnered a domestic total of $200 million since their respective releases in December and March. This achievement makes them the only two films to reach this milestone since last July.
Prior to Chalamet's success, Travolta was the sole actor to have achieved this remarkable box office record with his films Saturday Night Fever and Grease, released eight months apart between 1977 and 1978.
Wonka, in which Chalamet portrays Willy Wonka, has grossed an impressive domestic total of $218 million and a worldwide total of $630 million. The film is the third live-action adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
On the other hand, Dune: Part Two, a sci-fi sequel released on March 1, has amassed a global total of $494.7 million. The film, in which Chalamet plays a leading role, is projected to surpass Wonka's gross total in the upcoming week.
Travolta, who will be seen in the upcoming heist film Cash Out alongside Kristin Davis, is set to portray a professional thief who embarks on a challenging job in Miami after coming out of retirement. The action-packed flick, directed by IVES and written by Dipo Oseni and Doug Richardson, features a star-studded cast including Lukas Haas and rapper Quavo.
Cash Out is scheduled to hit theaters, digital platforms, and on-demand services on April 26, offering audiences a thrilling cinematic experience.
