The news that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is to be investigated over an alleged lockdown breach is the latest police probe into possible pandemic rule-breaking in politics.

It follows investigations which resulted in Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak being handed fixed penalty notices, having fallen foul of Covid-19 restrictions.
