Boris Johnson continues to face intense scrutiny over allegations concerning a string of rule-busting gatherings in No 10 while the rest of the country was subject to strict lockdown measures implemented by his government to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Whitehall mandarin Sue Gray has now delivered her long-delayed report on the parties to the prime minister and a version of it has been released, albeit heavily-redacted at the request of the Metropolitan Police, now carrying out an investigation of its own.
