Motherwell captain Liam Kelly admits they need to take criticism on the chin and go back to being harder to beat.
Well have lost more games in the last six weeks than they did in Stuart Kettlewell’s first six months in charge.
Performances remained generally positive at the start of a six-match run without a win as Motherwell missed several injured strikers.
But Wednesday’s 4-2 defeat by Aberdeen was a low point after fighting back for a 3-3 draw against Ross County days earlier.
Kelly said: “We’ve been good for a long time under the manager and every one of us has had a lot of plaudits. Now it’s time to suck it up.
“Results aren’t going our way, the last couple of performances haven’t been where we want them and we have to stick together and be mentally strong.
“We have to get through to the other side and be harder to beat.
“Confidence isn’t amazing but we have so much faith in the manager and the staff that we will get things right.
“We will work tirelessly every single day, we will be in every day of the week to make sure we get things right.
“We don’t shy away from it, we have been in this situation before where results don’t go our way.
“You need to be mentally strong, people get on your back, people boo. They have every right to boo because they come here and pay their money to see better than that. We need to have broad shoulders and get on with it and try and pick up results.”
Motherwell now face a trip to Rugby Park on Saturday.
Kelly said: “Kilmarnock is a really tough place to go, their last couple of games at home they have beaten Livingston and Aberdeen. So we are well aware how difficult that game is going to be.
“But we want to make it really difficult for them. All right, we have not been playing well the last couple of games and not picked up results but we are still a really good team.
“We have plenty of faith that we can get out of this mini-rut, reset again and get back to being really hard to beat, just pick ourselves up and go again.”
