Tim Martin of JD Wetherspoon and Michael O’Leary of Ryanair are in dispute over pre-flight drinking and its resultant antisocial behaviour, I hear, after O’Leary suggested a two-drink limit. Could I suggest that they settle their differences in the time-honoured fashion befitting such gentlemen? A scuffle after closing time in the short-term car park at Luton airport would suggest itself.

• It was Mackeson, not Guinness (Letters, 28 August), prescribed to us breastfeeding new mothers at the County Hospital in Griffithstown, near Pontypool, Monmouthshire, in 1966. Crates of it were freely available in the galley/ward kitchen.
