Tim Clancy insists he can sort out the problems at St Pat's

St Pat’s boss Tim Clancy admits the club’s fans are within their rights to criticise him after the Saints lost for the third time in a week.

Pat’s are now second from bottom in the Premier Division following last night’s 2-0 defeat to Bohemians which prompted angry Pat’s fans to call on Clancy to quit.

Chants of ‘you are getting sacked in the morning’ was audible from a section of St Pat’s supporters.

Afterwards Clancy said: “If you are losing games of football and you are a football manager you have to expect that.

“Fans do whatever they want, they are here to support the club, I am here as manager to get results and at the minute we are not getting those so they are well within their right to express their opinions.”

Asked if he was confident he could turn the situation around, Clancy provided a one word reply: “Yeah.”

When asked how they planned to do so, he answered: “Stop conceding goals and start scoring goals.”

He added: “We need it to stop, that's what I make of it, if we keep conceding goals and not taking chances at the other end, it's not going to get us positive results, is it?

“What was said in the dressing room stays in the dressing room, we have spoken to them and we will address it in training next week.”

Next week is another Dublin derby, their third of the season, this one against Shamrock Rovers, the defending champions, who have also started the season slowly, with four points from five games.

Clancy said: “It's a massive game for us, one we have to prepare for. When you are not winning football games you have low confidence, I am the manager, I have to try and get them as confident as possible for next week.”
