TikToker shares 'genius' hack to never have to pay for iCloud storage

A TikToker has claimed to have a way to never pay for iCloud Storage with a 'genius' technology hack that saves you ever having to delete precious photos to clear space. Apple offers just 5GB of free storage to iCloud users, while Android users get 15GB for no extra charge.

Speaking to viewers on TikTok, user Sarah Adekola said: "Do not pay for iCloud storage until you know this hack to help you save money. You can get 5GB free photo and video storage from Amazon.

"All you have to do is download Amazon Photos and log into your account. If you're a Prime member, you get unlimited photo storage." She added: "You can also get 15 gigabytes of free storage from Google across Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos."

Sarah's TikTok account, @Millenialwealthsarah, has more than 260,000 followers as she shares money saving tips and life advice. The post has proved popular, with users thanking her for the top tip. Louisa O replied: "Thank you!!!"

For an additional £2, compared to Apple's top storage tier, a Prime Membership grants you unlimited storage alongside full access to all the benefits Prime has to offer, such as video and free next day delivery. Currently, Apple sells four storage options: 5GB (free), 50GB (£0.79 per month), 200 GB (£2.49) and 2TB (£6.99).

One of the major ways people can free up space on their iPhones is to delete attachments in conversations or delete some chats altogether. Photos, videos and GIFS all sent to you can just be sitting there taking up gigabytes if you do not remove them.

To do delete them, simply go to the settings app, then 'iPhone Storage', select 'Messages', tap 'Review Large Attachments' and you'll see a list of files larger than 4MB. From there, you can pick and choose which attachments you want to get rid of.

You may also want to review the apps on your phone and weigh up whether it is worth having them there full-time, or can be deleted and redownloaded at a later date when you actually need to use them. As a rule, only keep apps on your phone that you use at least once every week.
