TikToker praised for simple belt tip to appear 'slimmer and taller' - even when bloated

A TikToker who specialises in all things fashion has been showered with praise after sharing a simple tip that can help make people look 'slimmer and taller' - and it only involves a belt. On the popular video-making platform, Andrea - who goes by the username Andreasfashiongalaxy - demonstrates how to achieve such a look, especially if you wish to 'hide your bloated belly'.

"Sometimes we gain weight, and sometimes we lose weight," she begins by saying. "But of course our favourite dress doesn't fluctuate with us - not good! So what do we do? Let me show you."

While wearing a long sleeve pink dress with a matching pink belt, she adds: "This is one of my favourite dresses. Now what do we do when we gain weight? Easy! We transform our waist to an empire waist."

An 'empire waist' is when the waistline is pushed up to go across the upper abdomen, often giving an illusion of longer legs. It first came into fashion during the 1800s, when Napoleon ruled over France. It tends to be paired with an A-line silhouette and can help you appear more cinched in above your natural waist.

By pulling her pink belt further up she explains: "This way, you can have a tummy, but no one will be able to tell." She goes on to add that because the waist now looks like it is further up the body, there is more breast support, and "your legs will look a mile long."

Going into more detail about the reason why she uploaded the video, she wrote in the caption: "Gained weight but need to fit into that dress? You asked me to show you how I’d hide my tummy if I were to gain weight — here’s how.

"Please note - you don’t have to hide your belly! But you asked so there we go." Since sharing the top tip, fans have rushed to the comment section to thank Andrea, with the video itself getting more than 3.7million views.

Cheeses3xdeath commented: "The lord's work." Ann wrote: "THIS IS ACTUALLY SO HELPFUL." Evan put: "THIS IS SO SMART."

Will typed: "I can finally wear dresses without feeling like my stomach is ruining my outfit." Pat admitted: "I've never even considered empire waist dresses."

Ezra said: "Thank you, actually just spent a full hour sobbing because I gained weight and look fat in dresses. Best hack." Patricia added: "'Sometimes we gain weight, and sometimes we lose weight'. This motto will help me this summer."
