TikTok star announces son's tragic murder and begs followers to help catch his killer

A TikTok star has shared the devastating news to her follower that her son was murdered the day before his 19th birthday.

Ophelia Nichols, who is behind TikTok account @shoelover99, told her 6.9million followers that Randon Lee was shot on Friday.

He was shot at a petrol station in Mobile, Alabama, but managed to drive across the street to where he died, FOX10 reported.

Ophelia tearfully announced: "He was 18 years old, that’s the best part of somebody’s life.

“And I know they’re out there in my town. They’re out there living and breathing when my son is dead.”

She also begged her followers for help, adding "somebody’s got to know something”.

She said: "I’ve never asked y’all for anything, but I need your help with this."

She also recalled one of the last conversations she had with him.

She said: "I spoke to him yesterday morning around 10 to tell him I had his money for his birthday. He was looking forward to it... just hanging out with his friends and girlfriend.

"His family was his life.

“You see other people go through stuff like this and it never crosses your mind that -- that would one day be you.

"But to have an individual make the choice to take your child from you - he had a choice - they had a choice and they chose to take my son from me.”

In a later update she shared in the comments of the video, she said that investigators now have a lead on two individuals.

She wrote: "I hope they see this video and know what they have done to my family."

It is unclear what lead to the shooting as police continue to investigate.

A GoFundMe page for the family has raised more than £159,000 ($196,000), with hundreds of messages shared on the page in support of the family.

One person wrote: "I am so sorry you have to go through this. it doesn’t seem fair that a person who gives so much light to others should have to deal with something as dark as this."

Another added: "I cannot imagine the pain you're going through. I am so sorry."

A third wrote: "Thank you for being one of the sweetest women I have ever met on Tik Tok. I am so incredibly sorry your beautiful son was taken from you."

Randon’s funeral will be on July 2.
