A TikTok sensation is gearing up to headline her first concert next month.
Talented singer Lea Heart has opened up about her excitement at headlining The Academy in Dublin on April 19 and 20.
Lea told us how she landed a record deal through social media platform TikTok back in 2020 after Picture This band manager Brian Whitehead discovered her talented voice.
The Kildare native told us: “I grew up singing and every night of the week I was trying to get involved in a show or a competition, but I never made a social media for my music. Just because of the judgement of what people might say and would people think I’m good and all those silly things stopped me for so long.
“When lockdown happened, I finally bit the bullet and made an Instagram, and TikTok page..
“I love writing at the time one-minute TikTok songs that could be a bit funny or just stuff that people really related to. They weren’t like big, massive songs.
“I started posting on TikTok and Instagram and within a couple of weeks Brian found me and contacted me. I was a big fan of Picture This and recognised the name. I couldn’t believe he reached out to me.
“Within a few months, I realised Older and then from there it has been a big whirlwind the last year so it’s all happening very quickly.”
From there, the 20-year-old’s singing career gained a huge following from a loyal fanbase – and Lea found herself supporting Picture This on their UK tour last October for ten nights.
“I did ten nights with them. It was big venues and big crowds. It was insane. I think I had mentally prepared myself a lot. Now obviously the difference between my very first show and ten nights later, there was a massive difference in my performance.
“You can prepare all you want, rehearse all you want but you have to get up there and anything can happen.
“I wouldn’t look back at my first show and think I nailed it, I’ve learned a lot. And I still learn a lot.”
Next month on April 19 and April 20, Lea will headline her first major concert at the Academy in Dublin. She’s already sold 1,100 tickets so far.
“I’m really, really excited. We’ve extra tickets on sale. I can’t wait. It’s only a few weeks ago now.”
Lea set to make her music festival debut at this summer’s Indiependence.
Following a two year hiatus, INDIE returns to Mitchelstown, Co. Cork on the Bank Holiday Weekend of July 29 to 31.
Lea will perform at the festival alongside the likes of Lyra, Erica Cody, Becky Hill, Rudimental Live, Bastille and Fatboy Slim.
Tickets for Lea’s gig in The Academy in Dublin on April 19th and 20th are on sale now.
