What was supposed to be a hilarious prank on her brother soon backfired when hundreds of TikTokers slammed the joke as “cruel” and “humiliating.”
In a viral TikTok that has been viewed over a jaw-dropping 28.8 million times, Dara Roberts (@dararobertss) shared how she bought her brother a pair of swimming trunks with a twist. They dissolved in water.
Her blissfully unaware brother, Seth, was captured in waist-deep water playing ball with friends – before the sudden realisation that his pants were melting away hit.
A panicked and exposed Seth said: “My swimming trunks ripped… bad,” as his sister bursts out laughing.
“Quit videoing me. I’m serious,” Seth says. “I’m naked!”
Understandably, he refused to get out of the water until someone brought him a pair of shorts.
“We still haven’t told him the truth. Seth, if you see this. I’m sorry,” Dara captioned the clip.

What was intended to be a funny prank didn’t sit right with the majority of TikTokers, after one called the ordeal “so traumatising.”
“Why would you do this to someone you love?” One user asked, adding: “I just don’t get it.”
Others expressed their concerns of the prank’s whereabouts, saying it should have been carried out in a more private setting, “I like these when they are in a private pool in their backyard, those are harmless and funny. This is humiliating.”
“Funny in a backyard pool, and to a bf/gf but not in a PUBLIC place with your sibling,” another said.
Luckily, some users did see the funny side when one quizzed: “Am I the only one that thought this was funny?”
Another highlighted the seriousness of the other users: “Y’all really goin’ off for no reason – it was a joke.”
“The world became so soft,” one user candidly added.
Tough crowd.
