Tiger Woods was seen practicing his tee shots on Tuesday morning at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.
Footage of the session shared online has raised questions regarding a potential return to professional competition, though Woods has made no commitment to coming back.
The 15-time major champion is in the state ahead of The Nexus Cup, an exclusive amateur team tournament he hosts to raise funds for his TGR Foundation. As part of the event, he conducted a clinic on Tuesday.
While speaking to spectators who gathered for instruction, Woods addressed a query about the state of his game, which has been hampered by medical and legal complications.
"I can hit pretty much anything," he said.
The appearance follows nearly two weeks after a hearing at the Martin County Courthouse in Martin, Fla., where Woods pleaded no contest to willful, wanton and reckless driving and refusing to submit to a urine test following a crash on a residential street in Florida back in March.
He had previously entered a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers to charges of driving under the influence, property damage and a refusal to submit to testing.
However, in his court appearance earlier this month, the 50-year-old accepted a $1,000 fine and two concurrent five-year suspensions of his driver's license, leading to the dismissal of a DUI charge.
Woods walked away unhurt from the crash, escaping out of his passenger door, and, while he passed a breathalyzer test for alcohol, he refused to submit to a urinary test for drugs. That refusal earned him an additional $500 fine.
According to the initial police affidavit, Woods was observed by the investigating officers to be “sweating profusely” while acting “lethargic and slow” with eyes that were “bloodshot and glassy”.
Woods has not featured in a major or any competitive golf since 2024.
Injuries have heavily restricted his playing time. He suffered severe lower right leg injuries in a 2021 car crash and has undergone seven back procedures, including an October disk replacement.
He has not won a tournament since before the 2021 crash, with his last victory occurring at the 2019 Zozo Championship.
