In the opening round of the Genesis Invitational, golf legend Tiger Woods finished with a score of one over par. The 15-time major champion had a challenging day on Thursday, struggling to find his usual form. Woods recorded six bogeys, five birdies, and even a shank on the 18th hole, making for a volatile round.

At 48 years old, Woods has faced numerous surgeries throughout his career. He revealed that he was dealing with back spasms during the tournament, which likely affected his performance on the course. This event marks his official return to the PGA Tour since the Masters, which took place ten months ago.

Currently, Woods finds himself tied for 49th place as he enters the second round of the tournament later today. Despite his less-than-ideal start, there is still plenty of golf left to be played, and Woods has proven time and time again that he can make impressive comebacks.

The Genesis Invitational holds a special significance for Woods, as he is not only a competitor but also the host of the tournament. His foundation, the Tiger Woods Foundation, is the primary beneficiary of this event. The competition, which takes place at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, brings together some of the world's best golfers.

In addition to Woods' performance, other notable players made their mark on the opening day. The leaderboard is currently led by a number of accomplished golfers, including world number one Rory McIlroy and talented American golfer Matt Kuchar. Both players showcased their skills and finished with impressive under-par scores.

As the tournament progresses, fans and enthusiasts will be eagerly following Woods' performance and hoping for a trademark comeback. Given his historic career filled with dramatic recoveries, it would not be surprising to see Woods make a strong push in the coming rounds. With his determination and experience, anything is possible for the golfing icon.

The Genesis Invitational continues to provide an exciting platform for showcasing the talents of both established and emerging golf stars. As the tournament unfolds, spectators will be treated to outstanding golf and captivating moments from the best players in the world.
