Tiger Woods will team up with his son Charlie once again after adding the PNC Championship to his busy December schedule.
Woods is closing in on a long-awaited return to action after playing just nine competitive rounds of golf in 2022 as he continues to recover from his horrific career-threatening car crash. The 15-time major champion suffered multiple leg breaks in a high-speed single vehicle crash in February 2021 that almost left him unable to walk.
He made a remarkable return in this year's US Masters, somehow making the cut despite visibly struggling with his mobility on the iconic fairways of Augusta National. But whilst Woods has confirmed he will only play sporadically on his return due to his debilitating injuries, he has competed in only five competitive rounds since the Masters in April.
The former world no.1 pulled out of the PGA Championship with high levels of discomfort, and missed the cut at the 150th Open Championship as he waved an emotional goodbye to St Andrews. And Woods' inactivity during a crucial rehabilitation period has seen him fall to a career-low ranking of 1266th in the world.
But Woods is now set to be as busy as ever as he makes his return after five months away at his own tournament, the Hero World Challenge, in the Bahamas. Woods will take on the world's best in a limited-field event made up of 20 players, before competing in 'The Match' exhibition alongside Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
And he has now revealed that he will make it a three-week stretch of golf after officially confirming his entry into the PNC Championship in Orlando with 13-year-old son Charlie. The father-son duo will make their third consecutive appearance in the 36-hole scramble at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, and finished second in the entertaining event last year.
"We have been looking forward to this week all year and we can't wait to team up together for our third PNC Championship," Woods said ahead of the tournament on December 16-17.
"This is such a special opportunity as a dad to get to compete with my son against so many golfing greats and their family members. It is going to be a very special week and I know that Charlie and I will have a blast."
