The transfer window so often sees focus on the incomings and the cost surrounding them. However, for Arsenal specifically, there is an extra emphasis on the sales department as this summer sporting director Edu Gaspar tries to improve the reputation of the club regarding the departures.
Arsenal have notoriously allowed players to leave for too little or in some cases invested, as Edu describes it, in paying off contracts to see the expendable talent leave. With Arsenal back in the Champions League and needing to upgrade the squad, having a strong level of income from sales will be critical.
With that in mind, football.london discusses what realistic transfer fees people might be able to expect from the side this summer. These take into account the player’s age, contract length, quality level, interested parties, homegrown status and Arsenal’s willingness to let them leave.

Folarin Balogun
Having scored 20 goals in Ligue 1 whilst on loan with Reims, Folarin Balogun has elevated his status to one of the most attractive striker prospects on the market. With many top clubs interested, a bidding war could indeed help the player’s potential price but expectations above £40m are too high considering valuations for the likes of Jonathan David, who has a greater established record, are only slightly above this.
football.london verdict: £30m-£40m
Nuno Tavares
Interest in Nuno Tavares is not particularly forthcoming at this stage and Marseille aren’t keen on moving for a permanent deal despite his six goals in Ligue 1. Arsenal will hope to make a profit on the sub-£10m price they paid Benfica but his defensive struggles and off-field question marks are likely not to see the price rise too much above the £10m mark.
football.london verdict: £10m-15m
Nicolas Pepe
Once Arsenal’s record signing, now the club may struggle to move him on. The Ivorian had to take a pay cut to leave for Nice on loan and his wages above £100k per week will continue to cause issues meaning the club will likely have to accept a low figure and Pepe again will surely need to take a lower weekly wage for whoever signs him with suitors again not forthcoming at this stage.
football.london verdict: £5m-£10m
Charlie Patino
One of Arsenal’s most exciting talents wants to leave the club this summer in search of more regular and stable senior football. Although his talent is high, football.london understands Arsenal hope to include a potential buy-back clause in any future deal bringing down the initial price substantially.
football.london verdict: £10m-£15m
Auston Trusty
Having joined for a small fee last year, Arsenal will hope to make a profit on Auston Trusty after his Player of the Season award-winning time with Birmingham City. The Blues do want to make the deal permanent but might struggle to match suggestions close to double figures with outside interest also not yet willing to go too high in terms of valuation.
football.london verdict: £5m-£10m
Albert Sambi Lokonga
Albert Sambi Lokonga’s loan to Crystal Palace did not restore much of his profile’s allure despite getting more minutes. Arsenal would be delighted to get back as much of what they paid and may get some luck in the Belgian’s former Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany now in the Premier League with Burnley however estimations would still likely foresee a loss on any sale.
football.london verdict: £10m-£15m
Kieran Tierney
Another of Arsenal’s most sellable assets, Kieran Tierney has significant interest from Newcastle and Aston Villa who have plenty of money to spend. His status in the league makes him valuable but his available nature and injury record will curb fees above the £40m-mark and Arsenal will do well to get as close to it as possible.
football.london verdict: £30m-£40m
Cedric Soares
Cedric Soares may hope to stay at Arsenal for the final year of his contract, and few can blame him with the Gunners paying a six-figure weekly wage, but perhaps the Portuguese international will be the last of Edu’s summer outgoing investments instead.
football.london verdict: Paid to leave
Alex Runarsson
One of the few mistakes in the market under Mikel Arteta, but a full season playing weekly in Turkey will hopefully earn Runarsson the move Arsenal hope for. Yet again though any figure is sure to be low considering the Icelandic international’s wages.
football.london verdict: £1m-£2m
