Tiernan Lynch says Lee Bonis and Larne are 'getting on with business'

Tiernan Lynch says reports linking Lee Bonis with a move away from Larne are "rumours and speculation" at the moment.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Inver Park since last season ended, but as yet it has not come to fruition.

Lynch insists they have to get on with the job in hand until such time a bid comes in for Bonis.

"(There's been) nothing official," he said.

"We are probably a bit like yourselves and listening to all the rumours and speculation but that's really all it is.

"Lee knows where this is at the minute as there's no official offers or no official approaches.

"Our job and Lee's job is to get on with the business ahead."

Bonis, who was called into the Northern Ireland squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Denmark and Kazakhstan last month, came off the bench in Saturday's 2-0 Charity Shield defeat to Crusaders.

The striker thought he had cancelled out Jarlath O'Rourke's opener with 15 minutes to go but his effort was ruled out for offside.

James Teelan added a late second to compound Larne's woes and leave Lynch far from happy.

"I thought that (Bonis offside) was a really poor decision and one I'd like to see again," he said.

"I thought he was onside from where I was standing.

"That might have changed the outcome of the game but it wouldn't have changed some of the things we didn't do very well.

"It was a poor day at the office. A poor performance, probably lacklustre is the word that we're using and it was very un-Larne like, so it's disappointing.

"I can sit here and try and make excuses that it's about getting minutes but that's all I'd be doing is making excuses.

"The bottom line is that it wasn't good enough.

"We've set standards at the club now and today we fell below those.

"I think there was a lack of hunger, desire, fight and drive, and all the things you would have associated with Larne of last season.

"When you don't have those things in the Irish League coming up against teams like Crusaders, that's what happens.

"There's times you lose games but the performance has been good.

"The scoreline wasn't good nor was the performance, so it was a double whammy.

"I'm not going to sit here and try and make excuses or find positives in pre-season friendlies, it wasn't good enough and that's the bottom line."
