Tickets for Beamish Halloween Evenings go on sale on Thursday - if you're brave enough to visit

Those willing to brave the dark paths and shadowy corners of Beamish Museum this Halloween will have their chance to grab tickets this week - if they're quick.

The tickets for the popular Halloween Evenings at the County Durham museum will be released for sale on Thursday, hot on the heels of tickets for its Christmas Evenings and they are set to be a similar fast-seller. Both after-dark events which see the vast open-air site come alive after hours are always a huge hit with visitors.

This year's Halloween Evenings will run from October 28-29 and on the night of Halloween itself, October 31 when Beamish will be turned into The Un-living Museum of the North for the occasion, with ghoulish new inhabitants taking over the on-site attractions and lurking in wait to 'greet' visitors.

Those who manage to secure tickets on Thursday should brace themselves for the likes of hooded figures, witches and spectres around the museum grounds. The buildings in The 1900s Town will contain some spooky surprises as will Pockerley Old Hall which is Beamish's oldest building.

During the events, which will run from 6.30pm until 9.30pm, they can expect some bloodcurdling screams and chilling sights down in The Pit Village and around the schoolhouse. Also among the evening attractions will be mood-setting tunes at a family-friendly fifties disco at the Welfare Hall and rides in the Fairground.

Herron’s Bakery, the Jubilee Sweet Shop and The Sun Inn all will be open for business which should take the edge off all the terrors.

The Halloween Evenings are a separate ticketed event so Beamish memberships and Unlimited Passes will not be valid. Tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children aged three to 16.

They will go on sale on Thursday, September 29 at 10am. Keep an eye out here
