The Denver Broncos are close. So close.
The Broncos were one botched assignment away from taking down the NFL’s only undefeated team on Sunday. Denver is now 5-5 and the playoffs are still within reach.
Bo Nix, the team’s rookie quarterback, believes the best is yet to come for the Broncos this season.
“I think it is,” Nix said Wednesday. “I think we’ve been through a lot of highs and a lot of lows this year already, and I think that we’re very close to turning a corner and getting over the hump. I think we have a young team and we’ve done a lot of growing this year.
“We have some younger guys that are playing a lot of ball, so that only helps. I definitely think it’s ahead of us. I think we’ve played some good ball so far, but I think the consistency piece is going to continue to grow for us. I think it’s right around the corner.”
Denver is coming off a heartbreaking 16-14 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10. The Broncos were in position to win at the end, but their field goal attempt was blocked, sealing a loss.
Denver will now aim to bounce back against the Atlanta Falcons.
“We’re a little bit ticked off with how it ended, and rightfully so,” Nix said of last week’s game. “We all hate losing. We have a competitive team. We didn’t like how it ended, so we want to make sure that we avoid that at all costs moving forward. We’re all excited to get back to Sunday.”
