The recent study that links thyroid and liver proteins with brain functioning has promised a new approach to tackling Alzheimer’s disease. Certain thyroid and liver proteins have been discovered to be of high importance when it comes to moderation of the cognitive ability as well as providing protection against neurodegenerative diseases.
The study, conducted by a team of neuroscientists and biochemists, revealed that two proteins, transthyretin (TTR) and apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I), are essential for brain health. TTR, synthesized in the thyroid gland and ApoA-I, synthesized in the liver are involved in maintaining balance of nutrients and lipids that transports to the brain.
