Thunderstorms likely for next 2 days in Chennai, forecasts IMD

CHENNAI: City residents may get some respite from the sweltering heat as weathermen have forecast thunderstorms in the coming days.

This could be due to the convective activity over the land and the westerlies pushing the rain clouds towards the city. While India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall for the next two days, private forecasters said there are chances of a weather system forming over Bay of Bengal next week, which may trigger some rainfall over the city.
