A thug with a history of violence against women told his on-off partner 'tonight is the night you are going to die' as he stabbed her 11 times with a knife, a court heard.
A judge was told Robert McCabe, 57, also made a series of 'significant comments' to police before he was interviewed after his arrest, including: "She is lucky I did not slit her throat - I will slit it when I get out of here, her and her family."
The court heard McCabe - who has now been jailed as his victim continues to rebuild her life - went on to say: "She is lucky I did not kill her. I should have slit her throat but I wanted to watch her suffer." And on another occasion, he menacingly pulled his thumb across his throat while making a comment.
