A thug was this week jailed for three years and four months for attacking and injuring two women at addresses in Bridge of Allan.
John Jallil had admitted assaulting one woman at an address in the town’s Carsaig Court on June 12, 2021, to her severe injury, and assaulting the other woman, at a neighbouring address, to her injury.
The 31-year-old, of Gillespie Terrace, Old Plean, had repeatedly struck one woman on the body with a knife and sat astride her and struggled while holding the knife.
Jallil had repeatedly struck the neighbour on the head with a brick.
He appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday for sentence via videolink from Low Moss prison.
The court heard that the woman in the knife attack sustained five cuts to her left arm.
Jallil’s lawyer told the court that a doctor’s report prepared for the court pointed to Jallil having occasional paranoia - and that alcohol had exacerbated this. Alcohol had been a “significant factor” in the assaults which had not been planned and were “entirely impulsive”.
The woman in the knife attack had been a relative, but Jallil did not know the other woman at all.
His lawyer said Jallil had expressed regret and had shown “some insight into the impact on the victims”.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton told Jallil that the charges on the indictment were very serious ones, noting that after having struck the woman with the knife she had to struggle to get the weapon from him, and it was fortunate that the injuries were not more severe.
He described the matters as “extremely concerning” but added that he accepted that Jallil had shown some remorse.
Jallil also had a criminal record - some of that involving violence towards police officers.
Sheriff Hamilton told Jallil that there was no alternative to a custodial sentence adding: “It has to be a lengthy one.”
In the circumstances it was appropriate to impose a five-year jail term. However, since Jallil had tendered an early guilty plea he discounted the sentence to one of 40 months’ imprisonment backdated to July 13 when Jallil had been remanded in custody.
