Three teens arrested in connection with Wallsend vandalism spree causing tens of thousands of pounds of damage

Three teenagers have been arrested following a spree of vandalism at a North Tyneside community centre resulting in tens of thousands of pounds of damage.

In June, police received repeated reports of criminal damage at the Langdale Centre in Wallsend, which is owned by North Tyneside Council. On Sunday June 25, just after 6pm, officers attended after a report of roof tiles were being thrown from the building to the car park below.

The suspects fled the scene, but police gave chase and three boys, two aged 13 and one 14-year-old, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They are currently on police bail as inquiries continue.

David Simpson, neighbourhood inspector at Northumbria Police, said: "Residents have a right to live and work safely in their neighbourhoods, and it’s this type of behaviour which has no place in our communities."

Anyone looking to report suspicious behaviour in their community is encouraged to use the 'Tell Us Something' page on the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101. In an emergency, call 999.
