Three teenagers charged with murder of 15-year-old Deshaun James-Tuitt in Islington in 2022

Three teenagers have been charged with the murder of Deshaun James-Tuitt, aged 15, at a park in north London.

Deshaun was stabbed to death in Highbury Fields, Islington, on August 4 last year.

Police and paramedics were sent to the scene where he was found with stab wounds, shortly before 9pm.

Deshaun was given treatment but despite the best efforts of medics, died in hospital a short time later.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to have been a stab wound, shock and haemorrhage.

Three other teenagers have already been charged with his murder, bringing the new total to six teenagers charged over their involvement in his death.

A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were charged last Thursday and appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court the next day, Metropolitan said in an update on Monday.

They are due to next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Another 16-year-old was charged with the murder of James-Tuitt on Friday. He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Corner on Saturday and will also next appear in custody at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Three other teenagers previously charged with murder – aged 16, 15 and 15 – will next appear in custody at the Old Bailey on December 4.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of Deshaun’s murder.

At the time of Deshaun's death, Chief Superintendent Andy Carter said: "This is an incredibly tragic case where a young man`s life has been ended prematurely despite the efforts of the police officers and LAS who arrived on scene very quickly.

"Deshaun had his whole life in front of him and that has now been cruelly taken away and our thoughts are with his family and friends who will be devastated by this loss.”

Metropolitan Police urge anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact police on 020 8345 3865, call 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 7948/04AUG.
