Three people were taken to hospital after a crash on the Coast Road in Heaton which left one car on its roof.
Just before 9am on Tuesday morning, a collision appearing to involve multiple vehicles led to the one overturning onto its roof and blocking a lane of Newton Road heading towards the Freeman Hospital. One lane was also closed on the Coast Road eastbound carriageway as emergency services worked on the scene and removed the overturned car.
All lanes reopened shortly after 10am and traffic was once again seen to be flowing freely. There are not believed to be any serious injuries.
