Pink made sure to deliver an unforgettable show on Saturday night as she brought her Summer Carnival world tour to BST at London’s Hyde Park.
The acclaimed performer’s gig was packed full of energy and joy as Pink delivered banger after banger to an adoring crowd.
Now as she prepares for a second night, the Standard looks at the surprise moments that made the American singer’s first night in the capital one her London fans would never forget.
Acrobatics
If you thought Pink would somehow be restricted from performing her legendary acrobatics in Hyde Park then think again!
The Trouble hitmaker kicked off her show by dropping from the roof, leaving fans utterly amazed as she belted out Get the Party Started upside down while attached to a bungee cord above the stage.
Throughout the concert, she continued to showcase her incredible aerial skills and left the best for last as she somersaulted through the air singing So What, giving fans all across the park an opportunity to see her up, close and personal.
If that doesn’t impress you then what will?
Family affair
Pink made sure to include several heartfelt moments throughout her concert from stories about her life, touching interactions with her loyal fans and an even congratulating a reveller who got down on one knee mid-gig.
Yet, it was her duet with daughter, Willow, on their track, Cover Me in Sunshine, that tugged the heartstrings of many.
Concert goers were unsure if the 12-year-old would appear on stage during the track, but she made a short cameo at the end, leaving the audience captivated by their musical exchange.
Another emotional moment came later in the concert as she geared up to perform, When I Get There, in honour of her father.
In anticipation of the track, she spoke about his passing from cancer two years ago and said she will be “unpacking” his death for the “rest of my life”.
Weird and wonderful gifts
Something I wasn’t expecting from Pink’s gig was the time she spent chatting to the crowd as they serenaded her with gifts on stage.
First a plethora of frog teddies were thrown her way with the superstar explaining she adores the tailless amphibian so much so she has one tattooed on her foot. She later added that every soft toy that is given to her by fans is donated to local children’s hospitals in the city she’s performing.
The 43-year-old was also given boxes of Maltesers and even a sleeveless denim jacket with her face stencilled in pink, which she immediately put on.
However, the most surprising gift of the night had to be when she was given a whole wheel of cheese – it was brie if you must know – mid-concert. If you think you can do feta, then give it a go.
