Police are tonight appealing for witnesses to a horrific incident in Renfrewshire that saw three school-age girls struck by a vehicle.
The incident happened in Linwood when the trio of 16-year-olds were crossing Bridge Street near its junction with Napier Street.
It is alleged that a motorist behind the wheel of a white Volkswagen crashed into the girls while travelling along the road.
Two of the girls required hospital treatment for injuries they sustained as a result of the crash.
Police say the driver initially stopped before driving off from the scene of the incident.
The crash took place around 4pm on Saturday, November 26. The matter was not reported to the emergency services until the following day.
Constable Kirsty MacGregor of Police Scotland said: “We are appealing to people who may have been in the area at the time to think back and consider if they saw this incident or if they remember seeing the car.
“There are several shops in this area and it would have been busy with people. I would also ask any motorists with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could assist the investigation.
“Any small piece of information could prove vital in helping us locate the driver of the car.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2310 of 27 November, 2022.
