NASA has tested a fleet of three robots that can choose scientific targets, assess risks and adjust their plans without waiting for fresh instructions from human researchers.
The experiment took place at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia. Researchers wanted to find out whether artificial intelligence could help robots work together as an independent science team.
