Three prison officers were left in hospital after being injured in an 'attack' at Forest Bank Prison. The incident broke out on Monday, August 15, the prison has confirmed.
Emergency services rushed to the prison in Salford at around 8.25am on Monday morning, amid reports that 'a prisoner attacked another prisoner', the Manchester Evening News understands. During the incident, three members of staff received injuries.
One patient among those injured was taken to hospital in an ambulance with a leg injury, according to North West Ambulance Service.
The violence saw one prisoner attack another 'with two pool balls inside a sock', according to an anonymous source. An HMP Forest Bank spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred on Monday 15 August.
"Due to the professionalism of our staff the incident was quickly resolved, although three members of staff unfortunately received injuries and attended hospital. All three have since been discharged.”
"We were called at 08.25am and sent an ambulance," said a spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service. "We took one patient to hospital with a leg injury."
Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
