Three people have been taken to hospital following a serious crash on the A1 in Northumberland on Friday afternoon.
A section of the A1 was shut southbound between the A1068 near Alnwick and the A697 near Morpeth due to the two-car collision near Newton-le-Moor. Emergency services including police, fire, ambulance and the air ambulance were called to the crash.

The ambulance service confirmed three people were taken by road to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. The road has now re-opened and all lanes are open again with minor delays.
An oil spillage was also reported on the aforementioned section of the A1 but this too has also been cleared.
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “One of our emergency ambulance crews came across a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A1 near Shilbottle at 2.12pm this afternoon.
“We dispatched a further five double crewed ambulances, a duty officer, clinical team leader, one vehicle from our Hazardous Area Response Team and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance.
"Three patients have been transported by road to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.”
