Three new coronavirus deaths confirmed in Bristol region on the day before all legal restrictions end

Three new coronavirus deaths have been reported in the Bristol region on the day before all legal coronavirus restrictions are due to end. Two new deaths in Bristol and one new death in South Gloucestershire bring the total deaths across the region since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,811.

The three new local deaths are part of 164 people that died within 28 days of a positive across the entirety of the UK. There were also 39,656 new coronavirus cases confirmed across the UK in the past 24 hours, a decrease since yesterday.

On a more local level, daily cases dropped today since yesterday's figure. A total of 741 new cases were confirmed across the Bristol region today, a drop on yesterday's tally of 860.

Bristol recorded 302 new cases, the most within the city. This brought the total number of cases since the pandemic began in the city to 140,814.

South Gloucestershire recorded 191 new positive tests. Meanwhile, North Somerset had a further 141 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

Bath and North East Somerset had 107 coronavirus cases reported today. This was a drop on the 120 cases confirmed yesterday in the area.

The number of positive test results in each area of the Bristol region since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results recorded today (Saturday, February 19) in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 49,500 (+107)

  • Bristol: 140,814 (+302)

  • North Somerset: 53,713 (+141)
  • South Gloucestershire: 79,317 (+191)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Bristol since the beginning of the pandemic is as follows, with new deaths within 28 days of a positive test in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 289 (-)

  • Bristol: 666 (+2)
  • North Somerset: 414 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 442 (+1)
