More than three million UK pension pots are estimated to be "lost", with an average value of £6,000 each, according to the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI).
The research, supported by the Government-backed Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), found about 2.5 million lost pots are thought to be held by people aged under 55.
