Three men have been arrested after trying to escape the police by fleeing on foot from a stolen car. The black Peugeot had been taken illegally from Bootle 40 minutes earlier with officers from a number of teams working together to locate the vehicle and detain the three suspects.
Officers from Operation Pelican worked together with colleagues from the Matrix Vehicle Enforcement Team (MVET) and the Sefton Targeted Team.
The incident was recounted on the official Merseyside Police South Sefton Twitter account, along with a photograph of the Peugeot, in a post that was uploaded at 3.41am this morning (Wednesday, February 22).

The post read: "Great teamwork tonight from Op Pelican, MVET and Sefton Targeted Team after they sight an outstanding stolen vehicle from #Bootle which had been stolen just 40 minutes prior.
"Three males run from the vehicle and are detained and arrested #OpPelican #OneTeam."
Operation Pelican is an ongoing police campaign and was launched in 2017 to combat the drug trade and gang violence in Bootle, Netherton, Litherland and the surrounding areas. MVET is a team of specialist officers who specifically target criminals who use the roads, utilising the latest technology and high specification vehicles.
