Three-member team of Revanth, Tagore, Kanugolu damaging Congress prospects: Marri Shashidhar Reddy

HYDERABAD: Former minister and veteran Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack against AICC in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore, TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy and poll-strategist Sunil Kangolu stating they are doing more damage to the party than building its image.

Shashidhar Reddy found fault with the functioning style of the three-members and said level workers and local leaders were not being taken into confidence nor being consulted before inducting leaders from other parties into the Congress.

Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy's departure was imminent but the events that have transpired after his resignation announcement have been disturbing. Even the comment by PCC chief Revanth that Reddy’s are better rulers and can take on Velamas, sent a wrong signal to other sections of leaders in the party and in the society. On another day, revanth went to say that he will bang the heads of leaders to the wall, while referring to V Hanumanth Rao’s visit to receive presidential candidate Yashwanth Sinha.

“Tagore could have taken up damage control exercises by making it public that the party high command was serious over Revanth’s Reddy casteist remarks. Though Tagore said it in a close door party meeting, the cadres would have felt happy that action is being taken had he announced it in the media,” Shashidhar Reddy said.

Even the manner in which Munugode meeting was organised without informing Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was painful and the language used by Addanki Dayakar against elder Komatireddy was under instructions from Revanth, alleged Shashidhar Reddy.

How can revanth use terms like home guards against party veterans, seniors, loyalists who have been working with commitment, dedication and sincerity to the party. All those who gave their sweat and blood for the Congress were offended by his home guard remark, he said.

On allegations that Marri Shashidhar Reddy, former vice-chairman of national Disaster management Authority (NDMA) is leaning toards BJP, he said: “I have not uttered a word about leaving the Congress.”
