Recent revelations from federal authorities have shed light on a commercial sex ring operating near Boston, Massachusetts, and Eastern Virginia. The U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Massachusetts, disclosed that Han 'Hana' Lee, James Lee, and Junmyung Lee are currently seeking plea agreements in connection with their alleged involvement in a sophisticated commercial sex network.
The trio reportedly ran a high-dollar sex business catering to wealthy and well-connected clientele, with buyers paying up to $600 per hour for various sexual acts. The operation spanned locations in Watertown and Cambridge, Massachusetts, as well as in Virginia. Clients were solicited through websites that advertised nude models for professional photography but actually offered appointments with commercial sex workers.
According to court documents, Han Lee was responsible for maintaining and updating the websites with photos of the sex workers. The trio also curated a 'menu' from which buyers could select their desired companions. To ensure the safety of the sex workers and verify the legitimacy of clients, a thorough verification process was implemented, requiring detailed information from potential customers.
The group allegedly concealed the proceeds of their illicit activities by depositing large sums of cash into personal bank accounts and engaging in peer-to-peer transfers. They were indicted on charges of conspiracy to engage individuals in interstate prostitution and money laundering conspiracy.
All three defendants were arraigned in February and have since been engaged in plea discussions. The attorney's office has obtained electronic evidence through discovery processes, indicating progress in the legal proceedings.
These developments underscore the prevalence of illicit commercial sex operations and the efforts of law enforcement to dismantle such networks. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
