Three held for attempted murder in Kerala

KOCHI: Three persons were arrested by Angamaly police for allegedly attacking a youth with iron rods.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ashik Manoharan, 29, Ashik Paulose, 23, and Jethin Joy, 26. The accused attacked the youth near Kulappurakaavu temple on Tuesday evening. The victim sustained injuries on both arms, police said.

Police said that the accused nursed some grudge against the victim, and this led to the attack. The accused were presented before court and were remanded in judicial custody.

Training for cops

Kochi: In the backdrop of the rising number of online financial fraud cases, a special training is being conducted for police officers in the Ernakulam Rural limits on intelligence gathering and analysis linked to financial crimes. Rural police said the four-day training programme, which began on Friday, will equip police to handle financial fraud cases with much more efficiency.

Police said several people are losing money through online banking frauds. Criminals are also paying money online even for drug trafficking, police said. The training camp would assist cops in handling such cases.
