Russia launched one of its largest aerial attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war, firing more than 650 drones and around three dozen missiles, Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday. Air defences were active for hours as explosions were reported far from the front line.
Ukraine's emergency services said a child died in the northwestern Zhytomyr region as a result of the attack. A woman was killed by a drone strike in the Kyiv region, while another civilian death was confirmed in the western Khmelnytskyi region.
Damage to homes and infrastructure was reported, with rescue teams still assessing the full impact.
