Three Celtic things we learned from Rangers demolition job as they surpass Rodgers achievement

Celtic have won the first Premiership derby of the season against Rangers with a statement of intent 4-0 victory against their arch-rivals.

The Hoops were in a relentless mood and killed this one off inside 45 sizzling minutes. Liel Abada opened up scoring early to get a sold-out home crowd rocking and it wasn't long before it was two, when Jota lobbed Light Blues goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

Just when Rangers thought they had suffered enough first half pain, Celtic ensured they piled on some more, Abada again getting in on the act to put this game beyond doubt before they even remerged from the tunnel for a more low-key second half. One more was to come though as David Turnbull pounced on a poor Jon McLaughlin pass to roll into an empty net. The only disappointment Ange Postecoglou's men were injuries to Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of their Champions League match with Real Madrid. Here are three things we learned from the Hoops.

One better than Rodgers

This is now the best start to a season for Celtic in 12 years, even better than Brendan Rodgers' invincible squad in 2016.

They dropped points to Inverness in their opening six matches and this is now the best start to a Celtic league season since they won eight in succession in 2010. Five points clear and it's hard to see them dropping points.

Pouncing on errors

Rangers made mistakes in this and my word were they punished.

They stood still from two set-pieces and Celtic scored twice, while McLaughlin was left head in hands as Turnbull put a shot past him.

Abada impact

The young Israeli forward has been a revelation for the Hoops since his arrival in Glasgow last summer.

Two goals here were well-taken and he is playing with experience well above what his 20 years of age suggest.
