Three burglary suspects in custody after dramatic Garda chase in Dublin

Three suspected members of a notorious south Dublin burglary gang remained in garda custody last night after their arrests following a garda operation yesterday.

The three, who were travelling in a high powered Audi, failed to stop for gardai when directed to do so after it was suspected the car they were in was used in connection with several burglaries in south Dublin and Co Meath.

Shortly after 1pm when the Audi failed to stop, a managed containment operation was put in place.

While the Audi was travelling through the Rathfarnham area it was involved in a road traffic collision with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to Tallaght Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

However, the Audi failed to stop at the scene.

The car then travelled onto the M50 where it was pursued by a number of garda vehicles for around 10 minutes and continued after the culprits left the motorway at the Tallaght exit.

The car later came to a stop in Tallaght where it was involved in a collision with an official garda vehicle.

The suspects — two men aged in their 20s and late teens and a male juvenile were arrested.

A woman was also arrested at the scene for public order offences.

In a statement to The Irish Mirror, An Garda Siochana confirmed the "three arrested males are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at garda Stations in South Dublin.

"Investigations are ongoing. Gardai are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage... are asked to make it available to gardai."
